Spinster performs among the non-fiction books on the first floor at Dunedin City Library during the inaugural Nook and Cranny Music Festival in 2016.
In their own words "Spinster is a mongrel as F. soul machine spawned in the independent state of Waitati. We're a four piece band with influences from soul music, jazz, hip-hop, folk, and liiife. Miriam and Ana vocally front the band with their powerful, liquid harmonies and broad lyrical style which not only moves and stirs but at times amuses, while Charlotte and Sas in the rhythm section bring some major “UH!” with their phat, phat beats and hypnotic riffs. Spinster’s sound has a uniqueness to it which is both simplistic and intricately spun."
