“Life on ‘the flat’ used to include all the retail and services you needed.”
Born in Dunedin, Tubby grew up in North East Valley, he came to ‘the flat’ in 1983. Tubby was in the Motor Trade industry for 50 years working his way up from mechanic to management. He was one
of the founding members of the Dunedin South Community Patrol which started in 2002. The idea rose from a need to help bring the crime in South Dunedin down, and since it started crime has
been steadily falling. The Community Patrol covers a massive geographical area from Blackhead to The Cove and west to City Rise, covering an area containing some 30,000 people.
