Details
DescriptionPeter Olds left school at sixteen and after meeting James K. Baxter in Dunedin in the 1960s began writing poetry. He was Robert Burns Fellow at the University of Otago in 1978. In 2005 he was the inaugural recipient of the Janet Frame Literary Trust Award for Poetry. Since Lady Moss Revived in 1972, Peter has published numerous collections of poetry including the acclaimed, comprehensive 2014 selected poems You Fit the Description (Cold Hub Press), and has been described by David Eggleton as ‘the laureate of the marginalised’. Peter’s most recent collection is Sheep Truck (Cold Hub Press, 2022).
Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature In partnership with the University of Otago created an internship designed to attract undergraduate and postgraduate full-time students from the Humanities Division’s English and Linguistics Programme. One of the interns was Zoe Taptiklis, who interviewed a range of Dunedin writers, to learn about their experiences as writers in Dunedin.
