Southern Heritage Trust: Visions for Dunedin talk - Part 1 Hiding in Plain Sight by Andrea Farminer

In partnership with Dunedin Public Libraries, the Southern Heritage Trust present a series of monthly talks each year at City Library. The series is called Visions for Dunedin: Our Heritage, Our Future, and looks at the changing face of Dunedin - particularly its built heritage - and how the past can and should influence the future of the City.

This talk is presented by Dr Andrea Farminer, a Heritage Consultant specialising in built heritage conservation in the UK and NZ. Her career has included three years as Dunedin City Council Heritage Advisor and at time of writing she is Conservation Advisor for Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga and lecturer at Otago Polytechnic.

Advocating for heritage can be exhausting, frustrating, energising and rewarding in changing measures. So when do people get the time to think about what’s next? What new heritage places should we be looking for, why and what/whose stories will they tell for future posterity? This Visions talk will explore some of our potential future heritage places, old and new and possibly surprising!
