Celebrating National Poetry Day in our 10th year as a City of Literature

Friday, 23 August was National Poetry Day and Dunedin Public Libraries, NZ Society of Authors Otago/Southland Branch and Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature joined forces on a free sold-out event to celebrate our extraordinary poets and our tenth birthday year!

The City Library’s 4^th floor was transformed with pink baubles and banners thanks to Dunedin Public Libraries’ Jill Bowie and Ali Boyne, and the walls were covered with almost fifty striking poem posters thanks to Marketing & Design’s Casey Thomas.

To celebrate this epic occasion and to acknowledge the incredible poets and all that made this such a memorable celebration, NZ Society of Authors’ Michelle Elvy has published all the poems as an anthology. Perch is available from At The Bay ~ I Te Kokoru ~ Aotearoa Stories. We are so grateful to Michelle for her time and unwavering passion, contributing to our vibrant literary scene.
