Description

Iris Guiver Wilkinson (1906-1939), better known by her pen name Robin Hyde, was born in South Africa and brought to Wellington as a baby. She became one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most notable writers. Best known today for her fiction novels, Hyde was also a poet and a journalist.

Heritage Collections holds numerous items by and about Robin Hyde, including her first published work The Desolate Star and Other Poems (1929), and a signed copy of her autobiographical account of journalism Journalese (1934). We also have several letters written by her.
