Details
DescriptionTwo ladies in a horse and cart outside the carpentry and building business of William Wedderspoon, Gordon Road Mosgiel established in 1866. His brother Andrew was also involved in the business. He married Catherine Smail, daughter of John Smail, the first manager of the Mosgiel Woollen Mills. He built the Mosgiel Church of England and the County Office in Gordon Road. In 1916 the business passed into the hands of Robt. Muirhead, a builder in the town and in 1968 the business was sold to J Morshuis. Mr Wedderspoon was also an early councillor of the borough. He drowned at Brighton in October 1925.
