DescriptionJames O'Grqdy had a small cottage in Gordon Road, Mosgiel, facing Wickliffe Street to which he added a grocery store which was the first grocery store in Gordon Road. He was born in Limerick, Ireland and was one of the earliest settlers in Mosgiel arriving c 1865 - he died in 1905. After his death Mrs O'Grady carried on the store for many years and many a child went there to buy a half penny stick of Russian Toffee. She used to sit on a box at the front entrance talking to the passers by. She died in 1930.
