Clydesdale Horse Society of New Zealand Centenary Celebrations

On Saturday 11th June 2011, 40 Clydesdale horses from all over New Zealand, pulling 12 wagons, paraded from St Andrews Street to Forbury Park to celebrate 100 years since the Clydesdale Horse Society of New Zealand was formed in Dunedin in 1911. The arrival of the Clydesdales was heralded by the John McGlashan Pip Band and people in period dress, and then Mayor Dave Cull welcomed the group, the first parade of Clydesdales in Dunedin in 70 years.

The parade was part of three days of festivities from the 9th-11th June, which included a formal centennial dinner at Larnach Castle on Friday 10th June.
