March for Palestine - Dunedin NZ

Around 200 protesters marched through Dunedin CBD on Saturday 16th August 2014, part of a NZ-wide series of rallies urging the NZ Government, UN and the international community to oppose Israel's attacks on Gaza. 

The march brought traffic to a standstill as pro-Palestinian placard-holders chanted "Free, free Palestine" as they headed towards the Octagon. With representatives from Mana and the Green Parties, and members of Dunedin's Muslim community, the crowd held communion in the Octagon for over an hour, while four pro-israel protesters looked on, holding anti-Hamas placards.
