Outram Town Board Office

The Outram Town Board (OTB) was formed in 1882, and the OTB office was built in 1924 at a cost of ₤75 for the Town Clerk. The building was used until the Board ceased in 1961. Outram, now part of the Dunedin City Council, had its own town board for 79 years, with only two town clerks during that time.

The first Outram Town Clerk was John Grant, who held the position for 42 years, and worked from an office at the back of his house. The second Town Clerk was Arthur Stewart, and it was he who worked from the OTB building during his tenure.

The building was used for several alternative purposes until the 1990s, including for small meetings and even the school dentist. The Dunedin City Council then gifted the building to the Taieri Historical Society, who relocated it to the Taieri Historical Park on Reservoir Hill as part of their permanent museum collection. 

The Taieri Historical Society found the building to be reminiscent of an early settler's cottage, and now display some of their household memorabilia in the building.
