Description

Written by his son, these are the war memoirs of Private George Edward Brenssell, 456912 23rd Battalion, 17th Platoon, D Company, New Zealand Army.

George Edward Brenssell was born on 14th July 1923 in a house on Holyhead Street, Outram.

Private Brenssell was awarded the Italy Star, medal for services to Great Britain, and medal for services to New Zealand.

The book contains a collection of photographs and ephemera related to Private Brenssell's wartime service during WWII, as well as historical notes on Outram and Mosgiel, recounting George's youth, schooling, work and marriage before joining the NZ Army.

Laurie Brenssell kindly donated the digitised book to the Taieri Historical Society's digital collection, hosted by Dunedin Public Libraries' Scattered Seeds Archive, with permission for this to be freely accessible to the general public.
