Description KNARSTON PARK
This photo was taken about 1910 before the first bridge was built. This is looking up-river across the sand-dunes of what is now Knarston Park. The while prominent building was the goods shed built in 1864 at the head of the Provincial Council Jetty. It was directly opposite the Sote near where the present day toilets are. Knarston Park was known as “The Green”. For many years it was threatened by the lupins which spread over the sand hills in the 1930’s.
On 12 January 1924 the Taieri Mouth Amenities Society was formed. Over the years the Society has worked toward the improvement of roads, picnic grounds and other facilities around the township.,
