Details
DescriptionRescue and recovery on the Cascade face, Mt Aspiring National Park. A party of three with two fatalities. I of the party survived and went out for help. Search parties were deployed from Wanaka and stayed in the Police cells in Wanaka as accommodation. They drove to the end of the road at Raspberry hut and were picked up by helicopter, which was the first time a helicopter was used in the Otago region. Arnold Hubbard and possibly Don McTaggart were the other members of the search party.
